To make ends meet, he had to take on any job. Nearly 10 years of dissatisfaction with the California music scene, Deal decided for myself to start from scratch, changing stage name to Mick Mars and dyed her hair jet black color. Hoping to find a group in 1981, he put in a Los Angeles newspaper «The Recycler» announcement, describing himself as “loud, rude and aggressive guitar player”. Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee contacted him and, after being heard him play, immediately took him to the group, firing its previous demand guitarist Mick.
