Born: September 26, 1923, Gurdaspur (Punjab, India) Dev Anand Height: 175 cm Dev Anand – Indian film actor, director, producer and writer. He acted in over 100 films, almost all of them in the title role. Dharmdev Pishorimal Anand was born in a family lawyer. The father sent his son to study at Dalhousie, the Himalayas, in the convent school, and also contributed to the fact that the son was studying English at the Government College in Lahore. After college, Dev Anand wanted to continue his education in England, and a master’s degree to get there, but his father, faced with financial difficulties, insisted that his son started working at the bank. Dev felt the victim, as his elder brother Chetan by the time he studied in London. Anand, wishing to establish itself as a director and producer, he founded his own production company”Navketan.” His first painting became an independent thriller”Enemies”(1951) with the participation of Kalpana Kartik in the title role. In 1957 the actors were married, and Kalpana has since left the cinema. Directing”Navketanom”in 1971, Dev Ananad directed the film”Brothers and Sisters”and played a major role in it. It was the reaction to the film-cultural changes which have come from Western countries, in particular, the hippie culture. The main female role in the movie performed a famous film star Mumtaz.
