Ben Askren

An outstanding athlete, a talented wrestler. His profiling sport – wrestling. Fights in the weight category up to 74 kilograms ex. Speaks at international competitions in the national team of the United States. CARS is a club Sunkist Kids. Ben made good on past Olympics in Beijing, but to the highest prizes have not reached.

Ben CARS 18th July 1984 in Cedar Rapids, IA. From an early age, Ben played sports. For some time the future wrestler in high school Hartland, Wis. (Arrowhead). There, he was considered one of the strongest young school athletes. Once Ben noticed a very good specialist John Mesenbrink that – later – a long time he has coached and helped the athlete to become a very strong wrestlers.

In 1999, Ben won the silver medal in the state. In 2000 and 2001 to the years he has become the undisputed champion of the CARS States. Immediately after – young athlete finished his studies in high school and later enrolled at the College of Missouri. In college, Ben CARS considered a promising fighter and one of the future hopes of the American struggle. At the University of Ben he coached outstanding mentor – Brian Smith. With the help of the CARS four times became a finalist for the prestigious NCAA competitions and twice found himself in the final competition on the All-American.

Seasons 2002nd and 2007th’s become incredibly successful for wrestlers. The athlete was able to

to win a large number of wins at the highest level. During those two seasons, Ben became a double champion NCAA, and twice won the competition Hodge Trophy. The following year, CARS has been successful mainly in the national tournament.

Later – a young wrestler proved to be excellent, and at international championships. Ben took the third place at the international tournament in Kiev.

Also, CARS has repeatedly distinguished himself at the Olympics. In Athens four years ago, he participated in the US Olympic Team Trials, but finished only sixth. This year, Ben was able to get to the main event in Beijing. Unfortunately, young, talented freestyle wrestler could not get a place on the podium. Despite this, he still managed to win a few victories, showing himself in a dignified manner.

Some time ago, Ben returned to the United States to share their impressions about the Olympic Games and prepare for the upcoming tournaments.
