Bernard Hill (born December 17, 1944) – British actor, performing on stage, as well as act in films and television series. During his thirty-year career most popular roles were: the role of Captain Edward John Smith in the movie “Titanic» (Titanic), King Theoden in the trilogy “Lord of the Rings» (The Lord of the Rings), as well as the caretaker San Quentin in the film directed by Clint Eastwood “True Crime» (True Crime).

Hill was born in Manchester, England. He received his education at the College of Javeriana and then at Manchester Institute of Drama (where he studied with Richard Griffiths). In 1970, he graduated with a degree in theater actor.
