Keith Haring (Eng. Keith Haring ; May 4, 1958 (19,580,504). Reading – February 16, 1990, New York) – American painter, sculptor and public figure .


Haring was born in Pennsylvania, soon he began to draw, raised on American popular culture of comics, cartoons, advertising. Studied two semesters at the designer’s art school in Pittsburgh, gave up studies. Then he moved to New York, entered the circle of alternative art. He was engaged in wall paintings in a New York subway, as well as in Melbourne, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin.

Friends with Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kenny Scharf ( English. ), Andy Warhol and Madonna collaborated with William S. Burroughs, Timothy Leary, Yoko Ono, and Grace Jones.

The first solo exhibition of Keith Haring was organized in New York in 1982. He participated in the 7th document (1982), the Biennale in Sao Paulo and other major international exhibitions.

In 1986, the artist opened a shop in Manhattan Pop Shop, which traded a variety of products with applied on them pictures of the artist.
