Dan Rather

The famous journalist Dan Rather for a quarter of a century was considered the face of American television news. They say that Americans trust Rather more than the living presidents, and only slightly less than their portraits on the dollar. For nearly half a century during his evening air television channel the C-CBS (CBS), he told the Americans the truth. His shows were brave, honest and direct.

Author: Pauline Chelpanova

Dan Rather (Dan Rather) was born in 1931 in Texas, in a family of oil workers. He was from an early age he was forced to earn a living. Parents are always advised him to study, and he, in turn, a childhood dream to become a journalist.

The first journalistic experience Dan was the release of a school wall newspaper. Another wall newspaper has become a piece of student when he was in college in Huntsville. At first he worked as a reporter in one of Texas newspapers, and later came to the TV. On television station C-CBS brought it literally hurricane – its report on the hurricane “Karl” attracted the attention of television producers. A talented young man very quickly managed to gain a reputation for unsurpassed master of television programming. Scenes of Dan Rather literally shook the viewers. He was able to find astonishing accuracy the simple, yet very effective methods that have found a constant response in the souls of compatriots. For example, one of his stories when Raser broadcasts from a dilapidated San Francisco earthquake, concluded that Dan Rather asked directly on the air of silence. And the camera glided silently over the ruins … Talent television journalist was so obvious that very soon he became one of the most prominent personalities of news programs. It was first reported by Dan Rather Americans about the death of President John F. Kennedy. After his journalistic career were interviews with all the presidents of the United States.

Rather worked in Afghanistan, Vietnam, interviewed Saddam Hussein and was near the Berlin Wall at the time of its destruction. He was surprisingly workable, it must be literate and artistic. His radio program, “Dan Rather said,”broadcast at least three hundred stations. His picks with the Presidents have become a tradition and became the US National bike. The program of the evening news on channel C-CBS has changed a lot since his arrival. He did not miss a single opportunity to express their own opinions and to assess to cover the event. The sharp-tongued, thoughtful and politically literate Rather literally”infected”by millions of viewers his vision of political events and issues. His crown of the final phrase of transmission were the words:”Here is this … this world tonight.” At some point it became clear that the popularity of the channel as a whole, and it is kept only for Dan Rather, and because, despite the accumulating discontent, he sometimes receives a reprimand, but to serious business scandals still not adjusted. And the enemy, meanwhile, have accumulated a lot of the disgraced TV presenter. There were in his work and punctures, sometimes very annoying. So, in 1988, came to the transfer of six Vietnam veterans tell the whole country about the horrors and atrocities of war. The confusion occurred after, when it was revealed that only one in six had served in Vietnam, and that had no relation to the actual military action. Rating journalist Rather immediately collapsed, but it did not last long – is the next bold reportage regained his good name, and annoying juggling was favorably forgotten credulous fellow citizens.

Whatever it was, but in 2005, Dan Rather still had to retire. Despite the rather elderly age – as he was then in ’73 – a journalist is not left on their own. On the contrary, he was going to work on, however, the guide channel has taken a completely unique solution, and the Evening News with Dan Rather began, alas, American history. Rating transmission fell by this time to the very lowest level, and the percentage of confidence am

erikantsev menacing figure dropped to 23%. Younger colleagues have bypassed Raser in related news and analytical programs. Frankly provocative nature of some transfers Rather, according to many, often tacked on the verge of permissible and own interpretation of facts and events began to take precedence over facts. Audience of millions instantly responded to the deterioration in the quality of the feed material, and monitoring broadcasts immediately showed a widening recession image transmission. Part of the reason for this decline in popularity among viewers and was the scandalous broadcast, aired in September 2004, in which Rather tried to strike a blow to the prestige of President Bush before the election. The documents relied on by Raser in their investigations, alas, turned out to be a falsification. His last transmission was aired in March 2005. “To each of you – courage” – Dan Rather said at last.
