Kylie Platt is one of Coronation Street’s most beloved troublemakers so fans will be thrilled to see that Paula Lane is back on set.

The 28-year-old actress gave birth to son Arthur on New Year’s Eve and after a few months at home with the tot, she was spotted back on set in Manchester on Wednesday.

Looking like she has bounced back to her pre-pregnancy weight, Paula appeared delighted to be on set as she showed something on her phone (most likely pictures of her son) to her co-stars.

Look who’s back! Paula Lane has made her eagerly anticipated return to Coronation Street, three months after giving birth to her first child

Dressed in a green vest top and jeans, with her hair pulled back into a half-up style, it was as if she had never left.

And Paula’s co-stars were clearly delighted to see her, crowding around as they chatted to her on her return.

Paula revealed on Twitter that she and husband Tom Shaw welcomed their first child on New Year’s Eve.

Straight into character: Paula was dressed as her alter-ego Kylie Platt as she got to work on Wednesday

She wrote: ‘Our world is complete – we finished off a momentous year with the arrival of our beautiful baby boy on NYE. ‘

Lane, who has appeared on the long-running soap since 2010, was last seen on Weatherfield’s cobbled streets on Christmas Day before taking a break from the show.

Her co-star Catherine Tyldesley, who is currently expecting her first child, tweeted: ‘Massive congrats guys. Lots of love. I’m cooking him a little pal as we speak 😉 xxx’

Showing off: No doubt the actress was eager to show off pictures of her baby son Arthur to her castmates It’s been a while: Kylie was last seen on Corrie on Christmas Day before her character left the show

And fellow Corrie actress Debbie Rush, who plays Anna Windass, wrote: ‘Massive congratulations to @lane_paula and @SirTomShaw on the birth of your baby boy. What a way to start the year! Sending much love xxxxx.’

Paula also broke the news of her pregnancy on Twitter, back in June.

She wrote: ‘@SirTomShaw and I are thrilled to announce we have a Christmas pud in the oven! SURPRISE!’

Lane’s announcement came three weeks after she married Tom in front of guests including Corrie castmates Jane Danson, Helen Worth and Jack P. Shepherd – who plays screen husband David.

The actress, who hails from Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, started dating Tom when they were both teenage students at Huddersfield Technical College before announcing his marriage proposal on Twitter in 2011.

Can’t get enough: Everyone on set was treated to a glimpse of the tot on her first day back at work

At the time she wrote: ‘Yesterday was the most amazing day! I went to York a girlfriend and came back a fiancée! Tom Shaw – engaged r us!’

After being deluged with congratulatory messages, she added an hour later: ‘Thank you so much for all your lovely messages! I am one very happy girl and this is the best Christmas ever!’

Earlier that year she proclaimed she knew Tom was ‘the one’ and hoped to marry him one day.

She told the Daily Star Sunday: ‘We’re feeling very lucky at the moment as we’re both in a position where we’re working. I think we’re just enjoying being young, having holidays and loving life as a couple.

‘But saying that, I’d definitely say yes to getting married if he asked me. I think he’s waiting to make sure it feels right – but he’s had long enough.

Bouncing back: Looking like she has bounced back to her pre-pregnancy weight, Paula appeared delighted to be on set as she showed something on her phone (most likely pictures of her son) to her co-stars

‘We’ve been together for years. He’s definitely the one, there’s no doubt in my mind. It’s taking him a little longer to figure it all out. But we’re very happy.’

Paula, who joined the cast of Coronation Street in 2010, has previously taken minor roles in Heartbeat, Casualty and rival BBC soap EastEnders.

Speaking in 2013, she hinted that her long-term future could lie further afield than the Manchester based soap.

‘I didn’t go to drama school for nothing,’ she told The Mirror. ‘I look at other dramas and think ‘I’d love to do that’. something like Mr Selfridge or sci-fi or theatre.’
