Guess he won’t be replacing Jon Stewart! Jason Jones leaves Daily Show to star in new TBS comedy series with Natalie Zea

That leaves one less candidate to take over Jon Stewart’s role on The Daily Show.

On Tuesday Jason Jones announced on his Twitter account that he is leaving the Comedy Central hit series after a decade.

That same day it was revealed the 41-year-old actor had his TBS series with Justified star Natalie Zea picked up by the network.

It’s goodbye: On Tuesday Jason Jones announced on his Twitter account that he is leaving The Daily Show after a decade

He’s out too: That means the comedian won’t be replacing Jon Stewart

‘For 9 & 1/2 years, I have worked at one of the greatest TV shows of all time. But. It is time for me to go,’ Jones tweeted on Tuesday.

‘That said, I am ecstatic to announce that I’m about to make another great show over @tbsveryfunny.’

Jones and his wife Samantha Bee – who also worked at The Daily Show – will executive producer the new TBS series.

Zea – who also starred on Dirty Sexy Money from 2007 to 2009 – plays his wife.

The show has yet to be titled. Ten episodes have been ordered.

The series covers a road trip to Florida that has a lot of road bumps

Stewart announced earlier this month that he is departing the show after 16 years.

‘For the better part of the last two decades, I have had the incredible honor and privilege of working with Jon Stewart.

‘His comedic brilliance is second to none,’ Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless told UsWeekly in a statement on February 10.

‘Jon has been at the heart of Comedy Central, championing and nurturing the best talent in the industry, in front of and behind the camera.

‘Through his unique voice and vision, The Daily Show has become a cultural touchstone for millions of fans and an unparalleled platform for political comedy that will endure for years to come.’

‘Doug Herzog and Michele Ganeless of Comedy Central gave me an incredible opportunity 17 years ago to pilot this wonderful franchise. 17 years is the longest I have ever in my life held a job by 16 years and five months. In my heart I know, it is time for someone else to have that opportunity,’ Jon said on his show.

Zea just wrapped the final season of Justified with Timothy Olyphant and works with Kevin Bacon on The Following.
